LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO LP 600+ TAKES FATHER AND SON TO GT BRASIL LEAD

Lamborghini racers took three podium finishes and a pole position as the highly-competitive Itaipava GT Brasil travelled to Nova Santa Rita, Brazil, on 11-13 November for the penultimate race weekend of the 2011 season.

The father and son combination of Xandy and Xandinho Negrão climbed to the top of the driver standings in their Lamborghini Gallardo LP 600+ after second and sixth-place finishes.

In qualifying one, it was Xandinho Negrão who claimed pole position, courtesy of a fastest lap time of 52.442, while fellow Lamborghini driver Renan Guerra took third just 0.244 seconds behind.

Allam Khodair and Marcelo Hahn finished highest of the Lamborghini drivers in the first race, visiting the podium after claiming third place, while the Negrão pairing took sixth to finish comfortably ahead of their title rivals.

Race two also saw the iconic Italian marque start from the front row of the grid, with Cleber Faria putting the #30 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560 GT3 second after setting a time of 52.866 in qualifying two. Xandy Negrão followed his son’s effort in the first session by taking fourth with a lap time of 53.328.

Xandy and Xandinho Negrão climbed two places over the duration of the 52-lap race, finishing second to move to the top of the standings. Behind them, Bruno Garfinkel and

co-pilot Ricardo Mauricio took third in their Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560 GT3.

With just one race weekend remaining at São Paulo’s Interlagos circuit on 16-18 December 2011, Xandy and Xandinho Negrão sit ten points ahead of their closest rival in the race for the title, while Hahn and Khodair lie a respectable fourth in the standings.
