Hayek Fastest on Day One at a Wet and Windy Silverstone

Newly crowned ADAC GT Masters Amateur Champion Marc A Hayek was the quickest driver on the first day at Silverstone, with the weather palying a major role in the proceedings.

The nr24 Blancpain-Reiter Lamborghini set a lap time of 2:05.107, just 0.182s ahead of the Marc VDS entered Alpina B6, with GT Masters Champion Dino Lunardi at the wheel.

Half way through the session the weather closed in a rain storm put paid to any further improvements in the times and the teams concentrated on finding a good wet weather set up in preparation for Sunday's race in case the weather continues to be unsettled in England over the weekend.

The session was interupted when red flags were shown as the nr59 McLaren of Alvaro Parente stopped on the Wellington Straight and with visibility reduced due to the spray, the session was stopped to recover the car.

Pre Qualifying for the Blancpain Endurance Series will start at 9am tomorrow morning, with qualifying for the final race of the 2011 season due to start at 13:25.
